Comline congratulates sponsored driver in winning fourth rally title

Comline-backed Bob Fowden has become a four-time Welsh Rally champion after he and co-driver Paul Wakely dominated the Peter Lloyd Stages.

Fowden and Wakely took their sixth victory of a remarkable season at the Pembrey Motorsports Centre, West Wales, to take an unassailable lead in the JD Tyres Welsh National Tarmacadam Rally Championship with only one round remaining.

Fowden said: “(It’s) great to win the Welsh title for the fourth time. It’s been a successful year with the new WRC Impreza and my new co-driver, Paul, who has been an asset to us all year, and I’m delighted to have been able to see him win his first Welsh Championship.

“My thanks go to all the team members who have kept the car going well during the season, and, of course, to all our sponsors, like Comline, whose support has been invaluable.”

Comline has added its own special congratulations to Fowden and Wakely. The British-based supplier of European, Japanese and Korean aftermarket components is a proud sponsor of Fowden Motorsport, as highlighted by the full Comline livery adorning the team’s winning Subaru Impreza WRC S-11 car.

Marketing Manager, Leigh Davies, added: “Everyone here at Comline would like to congratulate Bob and Paul on their championship win. For Bob, in particular, winning a fourth Welsh Rally Championship is a magnificent achievement and testament to his talent, dedication and consistency.

“For Comline to have recorded its first motorsport success is a thrilling accomplishment, and we’ll be uncorking a bottle of celebratory champagne in true motorsport style!”

It has been an extraordinary season of supremacy for Fowden Motorsport, claiming a series of stage wins, including the Rali Cwm Gwendraeth, Tour of Epynt, Harlech Stages, Dale Stages, Harry Flatters Rally Epynt Stages and Mewla Rally.

Fowden has added another title to his previous championships won in 2011, 2013 and 2015, while co-driver Wakely has become a champion for the first time in his debut season with the Fowden Motorsport team.
