Citroen reveals new C5 Aircross

Citroen has taken the wraps off of its new, second-generation C5 Aircross, which visually fulfils all the promises of the C5 Aircross Concept version unveiled last year at the Paris Motor Show.

The new C5 Aircross sits on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform and will be available with fully-electric, petrol plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid powertrains. The EV version has a claimed range of up to 680 km, while Citroen says the PHEV version will do more than 100 km in electric mode.

The e-C5 Aircross will be offered with the choice of a 210 bhp motor combined with a 73 kWh battery offering a range of 520 km WLTP and a 230 bhp motor paired with a 97 kWh battery offering 680 km WLTP.

It is fitted as standard with an 11 kW three-phase charger, and from 2026 will be able to receive an optional 22 kW three-phase bi-directional charger for faster charging. From a 160 kW fast charger, Citroen says the e-C5 Aircross can charge in just 27 minutes.

For the exterior styling, the C5 Aircross’ silhouette is based on wider tracks with pronounced shoulders. The new Citroen logo is displayed at its centre, which is interpreted by a new three-point light signature with particularly slender horizontal light strips while Citroen Matrix LED headlamps are linked by a chic, discreet gloss black strip.

On the electric version, the front section is completely enclosed to optimise aerodynamic drag and contribute to greater fuel efficiency. From the side, the roofline slopes slightly after row two, optimising aerodynamics while preserving the volume of the passenger compartment.

Thanks to its generous wheelbase of 2.78m, the new C5 Aircross offers increased knee and head room for rear passengers compared to the previous model. The backrests can be reclined between 21- and 33-degrees, adding to the comfort. All versions of the new C5 Aircross have a 651-litre boot.

Up front, the new C5 Aircross features the largest central HD touchscreen ever offered by Citroen. With its vertical design, it floats in front of the dashboard, then cascades down in a single movement to connect seamlessly with the centre console. The large customisable area displays 3D navigation, controls the infotainment system, and allows widgets to be programmed for direct access to certain functions and positioned as desired on the screen, in a choice of sizes.

All new C5 Aircross models feature a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, which is ideally positioned and customisable at will. Depending on the trim, this is complemented by the extended Head-Up Display, a large-scale colour display projected on the windscreen.

The new Citroen C5 Aircross and e-C5 Aircross will arrive in Ireland before the end of the year in time for the 261-registration period.
