BYD Seal due here soon from just over €40k

The BYD Seal, a new fully-electric saloon from China’s BYD (Build Your Dreams), is set to arrive here in Ireland over the coming months and will be priced from just over €40k.

The first model to arrive here will be the ‘Design’ model, which is expected to be the most popular choice, followed by the ‘Excellence’ model, both of which are due here in Q4 of 2023, with pricing starting from €44,036 and €49,836, respectively.

However, the entry level ‘Comfort’ model isn’t expected in Ireland until 2024, with prices for that starting from €40,567, based on current subsidies.

There are a total of six body colours and two interior trim colours available for the BYD Seal.

Like the BYD Atto 3 and the recently launched BYD Dolphin, the new Seal is based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, which is designed exclusively for pure- electric vehicles.

The BYD Seal comes with a choice of two powerful drivetrain options, with WLTP range up to 570 km, standard 11 kW AC charging capacity, and 150 kW DC ultra fast-charging capacity (30-80% in 26 min).

According to the EV maker, the Seal boasts a comfortable and spacious interior which is packed with technology as standard, with high-quality materials for a refined finish.

At the front of the sub-dash, there is a wireless charging point for two mobile phones. In addition to the standard centre armrest box, there is a functional semi-open storage space under the sub-dashboard.

The BYD Seal also has 400 litres of boot space, and 53 litres of storage under the bonnet (RWD-version).
