Brexit deal will protect Northern Irish jobs – Bradley

The British Secretary of State, Karen Bradley MP has promoted the merits of the Brexit withdrawal agreement while touring Northern Ireland towns on Friday.

She spoke to business leaders in Newtownards and Bangor, Co. Down, saying that the draft Brexit deal would place Northern Ireland in an unrivalled global position to attract future foreign investment and the region could see an economic boom.

She said: “We will be able to strike free trade deals around the world and let me just put this in context for Northern Ireland. With a land border to the EU and trade with the EU but being able to access free trade deals around the world puts Northern Ireland in an unrivalled position in the world as a destination for foreign direct investment and that is what I want to see for Northern Ireland.”

She counters this by saying that: “ On the other hand, a no-deal withdrawal would put us back to square one. It would threaten jobs and create more division within society”, Mrs. Bradley warned.

“Voting down this deal would leave us worse off,” she said, and added that it is a good proposition for everyone in Northern Ireland.
