Arteon axed by Volkswagen

Production of the Volkswagen Arteon has come to an end after eight years, with the final model rolling off the assembly line in Osnabrück, Germany.

The German automaker says it built nearly 190,000 examples of the Arteon since its debut in 2017, which it sold as a saloon and a shooting brake, the latter of which it has been making for the past five years.

Production of the Arteon was initially set to run until 2026, but Volkswagen’s recent financial troubles forced it to reconsider.

According to stats from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), the Arteon was the brand’s 7th best-selling model in Ireland in 2024, with 770 units sold. A further 771 were sold here in 2023.
