All-electric Toyota C-HR+ coming later this year

Toyota has revealed its next fully-electric model, the C-HR+, which is set to launch in Ireland by the end of this year.

Although inspired by the C-HR, Toyota states that the C-HR+ is “unequivocally an individual model in its own right”. It is built on Toyota’s dedicated e-TNGA battery electric vehicle philosophy and has a unique body and interior.

Toyota Ireland will sell both 57.7 kWh and 77 kWh (gross capacity) battery options of the new C-HR+, with a maximum WLTP range of up to 600km expected from the bigger battery.

The front-wheel drive model with the 57.7 kWh battery will offer 167 DIN hp / 123 kW while opting for the 77 kWh battery increases the output to 224 DIN hp / 165 kW.

The new Toyota C-HR+ will also come with a battery pre-conditioning feature to improve charging performance, while further benefits are gained from an energy-saving heat pump for the air conditioning system and heated seats, steering wheel, and windscreen.

The interior is said by Toyota to be modern and streamlined, with a 14-inch multimedia display standard across the range. Within an overall length of 4,520 mm, the wheelbase extends to 2,750 mm, which should mean generous headroom and cabin space. According to the brand, a coupe roofline is achieved without compromising headroom for rear seat passengers. Toyota says boot space is 416-litres.

A number of advanced features are provided as standard, including a blind spot monitor, adaptive high-beam system headlights and parking support brake. Park assist and a panoramic view monitor are included in the ‘Premier’ grade specification.

Toyota says the C-HR+’s battery is covered for up to eight years or 160,000km, but that can be extended to 10 years or one million kilometres, subject to an annual battery health check at Toyota dealerships.

More details on the new C-HR+, including pricing and spec, will be announced by Toyota Ireland in the coming months.
