Big recalls in North America with Toyota and Ford
Toyota is recalling 1.1 million US built Corollas and Ford has issued a recall on 575,000 Windstar MPVs in the US. General Motors is also part of the Toyota recall though its Pontiac marque.
Toyota has announced a further recall involving more than one million cars in the US and Canada with potentially faulty engine control systems. The models affected are 1.8 litre Corolla and Matrix made between 2005 and 2008.
General Motors says the recall includes 199,163 Pontiac Vibe models from the same model years. The Vibe and Matrix are sister vehicles built between April 2004 and January 2008 in a joint venture between GM and Toyota.
Meanwhile, Ford has recalled approximately 575,000 Ford Windstar MPVs, manufactured between Sept. 1, 1997, and Feb. 28, 2003, for possible corrosion of the rear axles.
None of the above recalls have any relation to vehicles sold in Europe.
