The Greatest Show on Earth
The IAA Frankfurt International Motor Show is the greatest such event in the world. However, thankfully, it only takes place every two years, because, you would wear out a good pair of shoes getting around it, writes Padraic Deane.
After the dark clouds and gloom I experienced at the traditional season opener in Detroit in January, to the subdued atmosphere of the big European annual gathering in Geneva in March, all roads now lead to Frankfurt next week in anticipation of light at the end of the tunnel.

Certainly, the big themes of this major show will be green technologies and fuel efficiency. The electric car will grab a lot of attention, with some stunning 'e' concepts promised from host nation marques such as Mercedes-Benz (SLS aMG plug-in), Audi (R8) and Volkswagen.
But while the global downturn has accelerated the journey toward more efficient and greener motoring, it has not halted the toys of the rich marching on, with new models from Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, and Rolls Royce being unveiled in Frankfurt.
For the rest of us, we will see great, real world new models such as the new Opel Astra, Peugeot 5008, the 3-door Volkswagen Polo, Kia Venga, to mention but a few. Other big arrivals will include the Audi A5 Sportback, Saab 9-5, and BMW's X1 Crossover. Yes, all roads lead to Frankfurt and I can't wait!
And you don't have to either, because www.Autotrade.ie ' brings you all the advance news on the Greatest how on earth. Read and enjoy!
