Peugeot Produces 100,000th Unit of Efficient New 308

Peugeot has already exceeded its first target of producing 100,000 new 308 hatchbacks, following its commercial launch across Europe during the last three months of 2007. The tremendous production achievement coincides with the market introduction in Ireland of the three-door hatchback version, the 1.4 petrol version and the new and highly efficient 1.6 litre HDi diesel engine, emitting just 120 g of CO2/km.
This new low-emission diesel engine will qualify for the A-Category VRT and Road Tax bracket in Ireland when price reductions kick-in for efficient passenger cars this July. Sales of the 308 family hatchback are starting to infiltrate the major European markets and the car has already been much-praised for its build quality and level of finish. Indeed, the 308 hatchback has been singled out amongst newly launched cars in Germany, where it has been awarded a prestigious "German Golden Steering Wheel" award.
