Audi S5 Coupe
First versions of the new Audi A5 and S5 Coupes have now arrived and are currently on display in dealer showrooms. Based on the Nuvolari concept car previewed by Audi back in 2003, the new A5 model range is set to expand Audi’s footprint in the premium luxury segment. Customers have four A5 derivatives to choose from initially, all with SE specifications. Petrol versions consist of a six-cylinder 3.2-litre FSI, V6, 265 bhp unit with Multitronic transmission priced at Eur. 64,900 (ex works) and a 6-speed quattro permanent four-wheel drive version of the same 3.2-litre FSI model at Eur. 65,250.
Two turbo diesel versions are also included in the line-up beginning with a 2.7-litre TDi, V6, 190 bhp Multitronic version at Eur. 60,850, followed by a 3.0-litre TDi, V6, 238 bhp, 6-speed quattro model at Eur. 64,900. Other engine options, which will be available in due course will include a 1.8TFSI version priced at Eur. 50,000, expected before year end, a 2.0TFSI version and a 2.0TDI, 170BHP version scheduled to arrive February / March next priced at around Eur. 55,000.
Standard equipment on all A5 Coupe SE models includes air conditioning, cruise control, ESP and Audi parking system plus a range of comfort features that includes Audi’s own sound system with concert radio and CD/Mp3 compatibility, front centre armrest, light and rain sensors, xenon plus headlights, 17 inch 6-spoke alloy wheels, chrome exterior, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, headlight washers, LED daytime running lights and electric parking brake.
In a parallel introduction, a more powerful, higher-spec S5 petrol model is also being introduced. Powered by an eight-cylinder 4.2-litre FSI, V8, 354 bhp engine with 6-speed quattro at Eur. 85,500, its features include larger 18" S Style alloy wheels, sports seats, leather/cloth upholstery, sports suspension, electric seat adjustment (including lumbar support), left / right side twin exhaust pipes and impressive exterior S styling.
Commenting, Audi sales manager John Hayes said: “The new A5 brings Audi into a new market segment from which we were absent for some time. With its race-bred technology and breathtaking sporty design, we expect it to increase our share of the premium luxury market in which Audi sales are currently running at all time record levels and 30 per cent up on the same period last year.”
